Iris Painting

Irises arrive in late spring, tall and a little formal, with petals that fold over like silk. This painting stays close to one bloom: the ruffled falls, the veining, the quiet drama of a flower that only lasts a few days. Painted in oils on a 12" × 12" square, it's an intimate piece for a hallway, bedside, or a small wall that needs something with presence.
